The Paul O'Grady Show returns for a new series next Monday 23rd February 2009. It is back much earlier than usual Spring series which used to start round March.
I have seen on teletext Paul has hinted he is not sure whether he will continue with the show after this year. His contract runs out at the end of this year and usually it is renewed during Spring/Summer. He has said it feels strange at the moment with no decision made.
Would anyone miss his show if he goes? He has been a good asset to Channel Four.

To be fair as much as I used to like the show... It wouldn't be a great loss now. It's been a good asset to Channel 4 and ITV despite the negativity caused but it's been 5 years now so it's about time.
Wouldn't want to see Paul gone for good though. Always though he was at his prime as Lily so a late night show would be ideal... though without Lily i suppose.
A late night show would be the best replacement - I agree. I feel he's become repetitive and restricted on his 5pm show and contradicts himself too much with the guests. All the 'surprise' elements now try to cover this but all in all it's had it's day.
I always felt Paul was a bit restricted having a 5pm audience. He is much better in a late night slot. I have seen him live as Lily Savage in around 1993 and he was fantastic at late night audience stand up.
Maybe a Friday night show at 10pm would be good since there is no Friday Night Project as this has moved to Sundays, and would be good competition with Friday Night with Jonathan Ross on the BBC?
However maybe if they have a big revamp of the show would help as the format has not changed much and maybe a new look to set and style would help?

Nah.
Its just a bit of teatime froth, with touches of the Generation Game and some well worn friends as guests. You could have different "games" and different guests - but it would be the same show. A new set wouldn't change anything.
A late evening chat vehicle might be good if they focussed on one guest in an intimate conversation way.
He's said pretty much since he extended his contract he wouldn't carry on beyond 2009. I'd be surprised if he changed his mind, but if he does I'd expect it'll be for much shorter runs - perhaps two 6-8 week series a year.
With Paul returning early does anyone know if he's doing a full 12-week run now, or are they splitting his series this year into three shorter runs instead, which IMO would be better. I know C4 have Coach Trip coming up in the Spring too.
With R&J gone and Paul O'Grady likely to go I think C4 need to look for a new chat format to fill the 5pm slot at some point during the year as at the moment Paul is the only show of that nature they've got, and really C4 could do with at least one regular vehicle for a bit of self promotion.
Yeah like most people are saying, a late night chat show on maybe Friday or Saturday, with a decent budget.
Where though? I doubt Ch4 consider him "Hip" or "Edgy" enough (Read: irritating and unfunny) to offer him a Friday Night show. He's just no Charlotte Church.
