His show would really need to be revamped for primetime - but try telling Paul that!

I don't think they would need to change much, maybe a new set of graphics and new theme tune remix?

His current act is so repetitve now though. The dogs, shouting at Bert about telling him to wind up the interview, saying pretty much the same things again and again. The series should definatly be the last. A prime time show with more studio audience interaction and some games might go well for a fun type show on a Friday evening.

They could call the new show 'Prime Time At Paul's' and have a farmhouse style set with added pizazz. Put it on live at 9pm after the second Corrie episode etc.

Obviously the format would need to change and budgets are tight these days but just dropping a few ideas into the frame.

I'm glad to he's going back to ITV, but I'm not sure post-watershed is going to work.

I agree, and as said previously he has built up a strong family orientated audience. I did like the earlier idea of a prime time pre watershed programme, it would be interesting combining the best features of his daytime chatshow with bigger guests, less shows & a much better slot, plus it would be great for pre watershed prime time on ITV to have something other than soaps.

I would love them to convince Paul to bring Lily out of the woodwork, and have Lily as the post watershed version!

I bet STV will drop this!

Being after the watershed doesn't automatically mean being adult orientated. There are a lot of family shows on after 9pm. Obviously he will be a bit more risque but I think he can still keep the family image he currently has. But it definitely needs a complete overhaul, in fact they have to go right back to the drawing board and forget all about The Paul O'Grady Show of 2004-2009 and treat it as a brand new show. That would mean axing all of the regulars, features etc and I think it could benefit from becoming more entertainment based.

It's basically going to be like The Graham Norton Show, then.

It's amusing to think Paul isn't good for post watershed, when we all knew him first as Lily Laughing

I think it'll just be his current format with a spring clean, and less aimed at people who are viewers of Countdown and DOND. It'll be Paul O'Grady meets Jonathon Ross, with a couple of dogs thrown in.

He has built up a family orientated audience, but, equally, he can build a new prime time audience as well. I think he'll be a lot better after the watershed as he'll have more freedom over what the show can do.

I always liked Lily Live he did a few years ago for late-night ITV, that was a good mix of entertainment and chat; plus the contribution from the regulars (Gayle Tuesday and Mary Unfaithful) and punters were kept to an amusing minimum.
