I can bear Madeley but a C4 show on his own at teatime wouldn't work, if anything he's probably got a future career in Radio where I hear he's quite good.

Suspect on the radio he is produced by other people. On the TV, latterly, he's effectively been an Exec Prod, so he can overrule the producers who are producing him and tell them what to do. Not always a good way of working...

Indeed, I can already hear him going "can we do that? Yep, yep, we'll do that. COME ON GUYS!" live on air as he often does.

I think that's half the problem with Paul's show too - nobody dares tell him that just because it worked back in 2005, it won't necessarily be what the viewers want now - and similarly just because viewers liked the involvement of certain members of the public, doesn't mean they want to see them series after series.

He was ambiguous today: First joking a mannequin would be his replacement, before saying he enjoyed working for C4, but he was uncertain about his future. He did state a lot of what was reported in the press was nonsense (there's a surprise!)

I'm sure he let slip that he'd be gone at Christmas on todays show, will have to watch on +1 to clarify.

Channel 4 has said that Paul is still in talks with the channel about his contract and they can not comment at the moment whether he will return next year for a new series.

They have only confirmed that this current series will continue until Christmas.

Does this mean we could get him back doing gameshows?

Looks like he'll be doing a chat show on Friday nights. Smile That's the best place for him. He and his guests can now be more relaxed in what they say.

^ That's the worst place for him. With the teatime show he's established himself as a family entertainer, moving to a later slot he's going to lose the bulk of that audience. A friday evening pre-watershed peak slot could work (as it does for Harry Hill) but post-watershed is a bad move. There are already dozens of adult skewed chat shows I really can't see what he's going to add to the genre. It didn't work for Lilly Savage afterall...

I still think a twice weekly 8pm slot could do him a lot of good: Tuesdays and thursday?

Would he get the ratings expected in peak time though, what does he get on Channel 4, 2 million?

Would an extra 3m tune in to watch interviews with Barbara Windsor, Joyce learns to Skydive and Homeless Dogs
