Well, the party's over.

The show had long had its day anyway, plus Paul's poor health played a part in that. As he's often stated himself, the production crew made the show what it was and Paul provided the wit and continuity.

Hopefully his new show with ITV will be more 'risque' as to be honest, this is more his style.

He certainly adapted to daytime, but just imagine, harking back to his days with the first shows on ITV and how restricted he felt with just autocue, the show wouldn't have lasted 5 minutes!

Actress Amanda Mealing who is a friend of Paul's has tweeted to confirm that Paul's new ITV show will launch in September 2010.

Though other sources suggest the Spring. Olga TV will be producing an eight-week guest hosted chat show format for C4 too. Not sure when that will air though - there's five weeks of Iron Chef commissioned for the Spring, plus a 10-week run of Coach Trip - and from January it's Perfect Recall and Come Dine with Me.

Having watched a few episodes recently (admittedly on Youtube), I actually quite liked the Paul O'Grady Show. He comes across as genuine and normal and seemed to have some quite high profile guests on the show.

That's the trouble though, once you'd seen 'a few' you'd seen them all.
