Another ITV show is to be investigated by Ofcom. This time it was because Paul inhaled helium on his show which is broadcast before the watershed. In my opinion, considering the nature of the show, it was clearly a joke and I don't think any harm was meant. So what could the outcome of this be? Can the show be stopped? Will ITV be fined?
I'm amazed Paul O'Grady doesn't get into more trouble, I like him but he can be a bit of a loose cannon and I don't like it when he goes off on one, I think it's really unfair and unprofessional. Des Lynam says in his autobiography that he complained to ITV when they were doing The Premiership at 7pm and O'Grady slagged it off on a Lily Savage show, saying one ITV show shouldn't be slagging off another. Last year he was slagging off Good Morning Britain on his show after he appeared on it, and I know when he was on C4 and recording at TV Centre, when they had those licencing problems which meant they couldn't do live music, he moaned about that on air.
I don't mind it if he's a guest and he does that but I think it's massively unprofessional to do it when you're a host, especially as there's no attempt at balance and nobody there to give the opposite view. It's just bad manners, and he does it all the time.

I disagree, and think its refreshing. TV is not all sunshine, he was about what he said about GMB. You sit waiting for 2 hours saying coming up soon paul ogrady then he only get around 5mins...

It did lead to a nice little skit where he was "arrested" for doing some live music at the end of a show. I think he's fine as he is - after ten years, people know what they're getting.

Well, take that up with the producer, off air. Don't moan about it on telly where the other party doesn't get a right of reply. It's unfair.
It's not like he's doing it with malicious intent. It may be partly out of frustration, but it's mainly for the humour that often comes with a (supposed) off-the-cuff rant. It works well with O'Grady because of his persona, just listen to his Radio 2 show and you'll hear him moaning on there too - the difference is he's always doing it with a laugh or for self-deprecation.
To be honest I think he can be a bit of a hypocrite especially politically but this isn't the place. However like others have said, his humour and persona means he can get away with it, afterall Lily Savage was famous for her put downs!
