He played Cilla doing a Surprise Surprise thing with the audience for an ex-paramedic.
To be honest, there's so much of the show that is staged now, it just makes you wonder whether Paul's heart is really in it (excuse the pun..again).
The alarm clock - clearly kept going off on cue
The whole bath thing - could he not have at least just said "we have a special guy doing tricks in a bath *cue innuendo*" instead of trying to tediously link finishing an interview with Gillian Taylforth to the next part of the show.

yes all the time
for those who missed it, five minutes in he got stuck in the set trying to beat up an alarm clock
what was his surprise at the end?

I love the show. Anything is better than the trash ITV1 show at 5pm. Especialy now UTV and STV regions have their evening shows, no sense of unity at all there.
It would be nice to have some new features in it though.
But there is still around 13 weeks left to go, so there maybe surprises in store.
Paul himself in an interview said that they have brought in some new items and given a bit of a refresh, but also they have kept the features which the public like, tried and tested and so they wont change the show that much.
A few million watching at 5pm can't be wrong.

There's "unity" (whatever that is) across Scotland with the Five Thirty show - which is very good indeed, as it happens, so I fail to see your point.
Do you think regular viewers scour the listing magazines and get upset that the whole country isn't watching the same thing?
You obviously don't remember how independent television was for the largest part of its lifetime.

I meant that with both STV and UTV having their own shows at around 5pm, usually network programming is taken off in these regions unlike the rest of the UK.
When Paul O'Grady was on ITV1 in 2004, UTV shunted him to 2pm the following day, with Ulster viewers lagging behind one day than the rest of the UK, in 2005 Ulster viewers only got to see his show in the early morning repeats at 2am and the final series for ITV1 in the autumn of 2005 Ulster viewers didn't see the show at all.
It was only when he moved to Channel 4 that we got to see it at 5pm. Even Paul hinted at this in one of the early 2006 shows.
That is what I meant by unity, at least with Channel 4 you get to see it at 5pm like the rest of the UK.
UTV has a recent history of moving popular 5pm shows around or not showing them at all, which can anger some fans of those shows.

Nope, my understanding is that UTV have always had an Hour long Regional news programme, in the old days of ITN going out at 5.40pm, this was no issue as the programme could start at 6.00pm, whatever else went out at 5.10pm and then after 1999 at 5.00pm.
5.30pm was the new time for UTV Live, when they dropped 30 minutes of it for the 24 Hour Quiz and moved that half to 2.00pm, UTV were bombarded with complaints and within weeks UTV Live was reinstated and 24 Hour Quiz was dropped, and since then they've stuck with that decision.
I understand now programmes like Golden Balls are shown on STV and probably UTV but at different times of course.

I have to ask what is 24 Hour Quiz?
also goldenballs have been slot in at around 3pm or 4.30pm. Dickson real deals tends to get 2pm or also 4.30pm
Most viewers are happy with the changes also STV can repeat Scottish show during the day : 5pm was used for it gameshow postcode challenge
