The whole show is shown up for what it is when Paul isn't presenting. It has made me realise this week that he holds it together every show with quick humour etc which any guest host just can't do.As I said earlier, rest it while Paul is off and replace it with Come Dine With Me etc for a week.A nice filler and then back to Paul but obviously Channel 4 are intent on showing it no matter who presents it for the duration of the run.

I agree to an extent, depends who's guest presenting I feel.

I thought Vernon did an excellent job yesterday, I think he saved the show from being tripe (although Sally Lindsay is always good for money value too), he tackled that cocky kid well. Although I like Liza Tarbuck, I think the show fell flat with her at the helm today.

I think when Paul takes a week off they could be a permanment guest host for the five shows that Paul is not doing. This means Paul could pick the best person for the week he is off.

I thought Vernon did very well hosting the show and Lenny Hnery on Friday was just superb.

Any thoughts on this? Who would be best to do the show for a week when Paul is off? I think either Vernon or Lenny.

Out of the 5 this week Vernon and Lenny were derinately the best but I still maintain that No Paul = No Show.

Lenny also wrote yesterdays show....probably hence the Tiswas nonsense at the end.

Yes, complete and utter nonsense. What they should have really done is have him hosting the news in a highly serious manner, with David Dimbelby on stand by. The nation isn't allowed to be entertained, after all.

When I say "nonsense" I mean, it was intended to be "nonsense"... tit.

I didn't mind Lenny too much, although his rendering of the show did feel a little contrived to me. I think he needs a show even more anarchic than POG's, more in line with in Tiswas or Comic Relief!

I don't think Lenny Henry is as funny as he used to be-- dare I say it! To his credit, he did banter well with Roy Walker and Frank Carson. So he did.

I preferred Vernon TBH. I think he has the right amount of cheese without being too silly, and he makes a great interviewer too I think (got on with Sally Lindsay excellently).

I feel he's a natural presenter too, especially when you compare him with Lisa Tarbuck's performance on Thursday, who just seemed to robotically read off the autocue somehow. She's certainly a better actress than presenter IMHO.

I believe Vernon is the regular guest presenter with the most charisma to match Paul's-- or maybe even Cilla Black is? I was surprised she didn't do a turn this week.

To be honest I was surprised she wasn't asked, though I do believe she has guest presented the show before?

she was the Very first Guest host, and acted just like Paul when he first started:

Cilla probably doesn't get on with other celebrities very well. Minus Paul obviously.

Has nayone heard that Richard and Judy show at 5pm will end at the conclusion of their contract with Channel 4? Judy is to retire.

Does this mean we will get more Paul O'Grady and maybe a new early evening show to replace Richard and Judy?

What does people think about this?
