Its a predictable scripted mess without Paul.

Personally I'd take the show off the air when he has a break and just put highlights shows or Place in the Sun on in its place.

Going slightly off topic, though it was bought into the schedules when the series was delayed anyhow, Come Dine with Me is getting a primetime special over Christmas, though instead of five people doing five meals across five days, it's four people doing a course each over one night - each in their own home too!

I noticed that the breaks seem to be every 5 or 6 weeks so maybe they couldve recorded 6 shows a week for 5 weeks and aired the extra shows each day. Obviously the guests would have to be more long term or something that would still be popular in 5 weeks time like X Factor, Family Fortunes, Lottery etc

( I purposely missed out SCD because they could do an interview with a kicked out contestant ...)

Or they could just have Lorraine Kelly fill in for him all week Very Happy

Give him his due, Paddy McGuinness wasn't that bad - he added his own quips but I still stand by my point.

Frank Sidebottom's part in Wednesday's programme wasn't anywhere near large enough.

It is wee Lorraine's sort of thing, she does live light-hearted chat-programmes brilliantly. Our Cilla fills in equally well, being similar in personality and a close friend to Paul.

Patrick McGuiness did a few POG-style quips I notice. I thought that was Frank Sidebottom on the organ (I was only half-watching/listening)! haven't seen him much since he did those double glazing ads Laughing

If you like Frank, take a look at Channel M (Sky 203, NTL 878; Manchester area only for NTL) on Fridays at 10pm, it's even in Black and White, altough the repeats are in Colour, I think the first episode is still available on the Channel M website.

Paul calls his floor manager Alan (Brian Conley's brother) windy miller because he's always waving his arms around in a circle to make Paul wrap up the item.

So it looks like it'll be Brain Conley that ITV snap up then!

He was by far the best of the bunch, better than Paul actually!

Brian was indeed very good tonight; they should have got him to present for the whole week. Honestly... Judith Chalmers on Monday? What were they thinking?
