This is such a great show. The fact that hes not a trained TV presenter adds to the quality of the show.
True, hes no Parky when it comes to interviewing but that adds to his charm.
Much much better than R&J anyday.
But did you know that half the shows are recorded earlier in the week?

I think the ones that happen at 12:30pm are just for the 'dress' rehersal, not a recording for later in the week. Although i'm not sure why there are no dates for Thursdays & Fridays.

It's no secret that Paul O'Grady and Des and Mel are regularly recorded - that's why Richard and Judy make a fuss of always being live.

P.S. Also noticed C4 dropped the ad break before 5pm when Paul O'Grady returned, going straight into R&J from Coach Trip with just an ident in between.

That's not the case. Monday, Tues & Weds are live. Thursdays and Fridays are pre-records and are recorded at 12.30pm on the Tuesday & Wednesday.

Do you think that this detracts from the quality/enjoyment factor of the show?

I do somewhat.

How on earth do you reach that conclusion?

The shows are recorded 'as live', including little fluffs and other unexpected mishaps and late cues.

I'd go as far as to say that without looking up the show to see the recording times, you would never have noticed.

Indeed, until I read this very thread, I thought they were all live. I never guessed some of them were pre-recorded.

How does the 'Guess The Theme Tune' competition work if 2 episodes are pre-recorded Confused:

The only way you can find out is to use Subtitles. Just hit 888, and if there is a delay, it's live.

Why are people questioning this ?

Thursday & Fridays ARE pre-recorded. They ring somebody up and play the tune down the phone for Guess the Theme tune, is it THAT difficult to understand ?

yeah, but the other week on a Friday he said "Oh they can't see the TV" when they played Guess The Theme Tune

I was in the audience on Wednesday 23rd March for the Gaynor Faye and Aled Jones show which was shown the next day. Andy Collins (former Family Fortunes host) was the person who warmed up the audience (not sure what they're called!!)
