In regards to his regular week off I think rather than doing two three-month series with him taking a week off in each they'd be better off doing three two-month series with Paul hosting throughout (if not ill).
When was it he began with C4, and when is his current contract due to end?
that does sound like a good idea, and it ends I think end of this year?
On the subject of Paul's absence I found this article from Now magazine (yes, I know) which may be of interest. There's also a Teletext article on it which basically just repeats the info.

also when is Angela Lansbury coming on?
Next Week. It'd be a shame if the one half decent guest the show has had in yonks is subjected to Lorraine Kelly or Melanie Sykes!.
Memo to Brian Connely: It's
not
1992 anymore. Not that your act was funny then either.
I'm spending far too much time in this thread.
Nonsense. He was
far
better than Mel and Lorraine, who are much more suited to general presenting duties. I think Brian should be the first choice to present whenever Paul isn't available to.
Brian is much suited to this, better than the other stand ins ive seen. I think it would be better to have one good person do stand ins for when Paul is off. That way if Paul does leave his slot in the next few years, the stand in will sort of have some ground.
It is true that many of his jokes were old ones, but it was a very entertaining show all around, I've always been a fan, and its a shame that he isn't on TV as much as he used to be.
And I agree that they should use Brian or someone similar as a permanent stand in, it would make more sense.
from what the Radio Times website says....Angela Lansbury should be appearing on the show on Wednesday
