On another note, I've noticed that Paul is having to do a lot of strenuous routines during the majority of the shows this series. Surely that can't be good for him after 3 heart attacks?!

It's always the same "...and Paul learns to thatch a roof' etc. I'm sure they've done everything at least once

He's done that bring the cue cards that say 'link to clip' onto stage and start a rant thing many times before too

You're right, Andrew. It seems as though every TV show I watch these days is just stuck in a rut of the same old guests and items going round and round in circles:

This Morning - increasingly about medical horror stories or something else to make you spit out your mid-morning coffee.

Loose Women - same presenters, same guests on a rota.

Alan Titchmarsh - a good chance to get an hour's kip. Same old guests - even repeated several times per series!

Paul O'Grady - same old guests (Cilla, Babs et al) and routines.

Richard & Judy - again, same guests going round on a rota each series. At least it is more topical, though.

ITV have even ruined Daily Cooks now by making it into a Ready Steady Cook knock-off. I actually enjoyed it as it was; everything has to be a competition these days. Can't they leave stuff alone?!

The show is still very popular and is constantly beating ITV1 and the BBC in ratings at 5pm.

Why change much when the format is working.

I agree though they do need to get some new guests on the show. It is tiring seeing the same guests over and over again. But unlike Jonathan Ross, Friday Night Project, who have large budgets, probably Paul O'Grady can only afford these type of guests with an occasional A lister?

Doesn't Matthew Kelly and his son look alike - I mean, same height, mannerisms and everything.

do there really pay people to go on the chat show? even if there plugging something? I thourgh there did it to get on telly.

even if that was the case, would A class people really be good on it?

the show is more down to earth, more c list people more fun and laughter, I cant see a list fitting in to the actual show there would look to out of place.

Yeah but as obvious as it is, The Friday Night Project and similar only have to produce 1 show a week and the Paul O'Grady Show has to constantly turn out 2 decent guests a day 5 days a week, and I think they do a pretty good job. Another positive is that they try and have as many performances as possible by artists, like with Loose Women. Even though it might be samey, thats what the audience wants and seems happy with.

Actually LW does have a good range of guests, I watch it most days and many of the guests are first-timers even though the show has been running for nine years now. POG has been going half that time, and can't seem to manage that feat much.

I don't really agree LW has the same presenters-- Jakkie Branmbles and Adrea McCelan job-share for a start. The current panel runs to 10 ladies at the mo; since there is only four on at a time, plenty of scope for alternation

I concede LW does have a small range of presenters; but I think that's the point; fimilarity, rapport with the audience, popularity etc. Since most of the presenters have other jobs, they can't do five days a week every week I suppose-- so the presenters are shuffled a bit. There's an A-team and B-team of presenters I feel.

when exactly did the organ game cease to be?
JK
JayKingDoire
The organ game ceased back in September 2007 because of the phone-in competition scandals which had plagued television stations.

Deal or No Deal and The Paul O'Grady Show discontinued their competitions which in Paul's case meant the viewer competition and the Organ Game.

However Paul did bring it back for four specials before Christmas 2007 when viewers nominated four people to do a special Organ Game. These people had done things for charity or have had a bad life.

There does not seem to be plans to bring back the Organ Game or any other competitions at the moment.

Anyone know when Angela is on?

The show excelled itself yesterday with Mariah Carey - or did it? I'm sure Paul has been very bitter towards Mariah in the past yet when she was on the show.. "Oh don't worry Mariah, I'm just the same!"
