Just wondering how effective people here think Party Election Broadcasts are. Do they affect how you will vote?
I've added a poll following a request later in the thread. Remember this poll is anonymous and is here more out of interest rather than as a basis of discusion. Another poll is currently running on Metropol
I'd guess not. When are they on? Haven't seen one yet.
'Er indoors and I voted by post yesterday, within hours of the papers arriving.
We're now waiting for the canvassers to arrive, so we can keep them talking on the doorstep for a quarter of an hour, wasting their time, then tell them their comments are futile.
It's all good fun for the kiddies, especially when my FIRST wife is a canvasser for one of the parties!
I don't know about the BBC, but they are on practically every night at 6.55pm on ITV1.
From a presentation point of view I like the way the introduce them in the same old formal way distancing them away from the rest of the output by using that generic 'ballot box' animation at the start and end
The PEB's just get stranger and stranger IMO, for Labour every time they have a PEB it is just having a dig at the Tories, when the Conservatives have a PEB it's just having a dig at Labour. The Lib Dems one the other night was nothing more than a Charles Kennedy Biography and had no mention what they would do, if elected. And don't get me started at the BNP one that was shown last week, that followed some ex-serviceman who was homeless, who was probably a druggie and an alcoholic anyway.
I think the meaningless Minghella produced Labour PEB with the soft-focus Brown-Blair love-in should have put more people off voting labour than gaining votes.
Don't know if the Tories have run their cinema advert as a TV PEB (or if they're allowed), but I think that's really quite powerful and could be effective in turning people off Labour and particularly Blair.

And for those that haven't seen it . . .
