Well I read on Sky Digital, Mediabullet that tests have already started for this new channel. I hope it comes to NTL and I hope they show Seinfeld again.

Though I don't think that anyone really knows about this channel, as when a new major-ish channel launches they make a big fuss and tell you in advance, as they did with things like E4 +1 and Nicktoons TV and stuff.

As much as I like Paramount, there is no way it has enough material for a second channel. The original one shows an incredible load of crap

I sure do hope it don't turn in to a sky|one Mix type channel!!!!

It's not so much that, there's very little worth watching: poor US sitcoms all day many of which have never been shown on UK Network TV for a very good reason (they're crap). Then there's Mash (ergh) and Cheers (dated but not too bad). The UK stuff (Drop the Dead Donkey, Frank Skinner, Python) is endlessly repeated.

That just leaves Frasier and Sienfeld which aren't my cup of tea.... but are probably the only selling points the channel has (except Mailbox)

I think that's unfair - some of the American sitcoms they show are indeed tripe (In Laws, produced by Kelsey Grammar, springs to mind - absolutely disastrous), but shows such as King Of Queens and Becker are very good indeed, and I think Paramount just about gets away with its schedule.

Paramount 2? They'll be scraping the barrel.

Classic comedy and more films maybe?

I take it Paramount only have the rights to the BBC series of Frank Skinner. I've never seen any of the newer ITV stuff on there, or am I wrong ?

Yep, as the show is made by Avalon, I have seen the programmes shown first on ITV.

As for Paramount 2, what we may have is just a plain timeshfited channel. Paramount +1 maybe?

You are not wrong, I have seen the episode which has Tara Palmer Tompkinson wasted about three times on there, I don't know if it because of a BBC or ITV thing, but ITV2 does show the ITV version on a regular basis.

But The Sketch Show is on Paramount and that is made by Avalon and ITV, so if that can get on there, I can't see why it cannot be the same for TFSS.

Though I would prefer to see more British programmes on there, it's a shame they don't treat them to well. Why is Monty Python always on at 11.30 or so?? Bring back Seinfeld too, it is the only channel in the UK which will show it, unless they have got rid of it, but I don't know. (Hopes a station like FTN will pick the show up Laughing )

For me, the annoying thing is that Paramount seem to devote prime time to Fraiser. Don't get me wrong, its an excellent (and intellegent - strange for a US sitcom!) programme, but I would like if they showed different programmes in prime time too. As already mentioned, Monty Python's Flying Circus could be on earlier. I want another run of The New Statesman as well. Cheers, Happy Days, Dharma and Greg, and others could be shown in prime time too.

Part of the problem is that UK Gold seems to have the rights to all the best UK sitcoms (no surprise given their BBC parantage). Yet anything that's not Only Fools and Horses (which is overated, even on terrestrial TV) or One Foot in the Grave (ditto) gets shunted to the early hours of the morning. What about Game On, Blackadder, Yes Minister, Red Dwarf - just a few of the sitcoms UK Gold has the rights to yet shabbily treats. I'd like a comedy channel that showed these at prime time.
