A one-hour highlights package on ABC1 from 6pm, and live coverage most of the day on ABC2/ABC HD. They're using all of TVNZ's facilities from the main Olympics.

Probably the most extensive Paralympics coverage we've ever had here and the most sports coverage the ABC has ever done from overseas for quite a while. ABC2 has also recorded a quite significant audience increase, albeit from very small numbers.

Tim - You're also forgetting another highlights package on ABC1 at around 11:30pm.

Does that mean TVNZ and ABC are sharing coverage/facilities or that TVNZ aren't doing much Paralympics coverage?

According to posters at Media Spy they've taken over all the studio space, cameras, etc used by TVNZ for the main Olympics while they've shifted out to do stuff from around Beijing. Same set and everything:

Makes sense given that TVNZ only did highlights, whereas the ABC coverage lasted something like 10-odd hours a day.

There are a few political correct idiots around who believe the BBC should give it the same coverage as the Olympics

Laughing Surely political correctness is all about 'positive discrimination'; demanding equal coverage is therefore not political correct?

Then, what if Seven and ABC shared same facilities in Beijing?

They didn't.

Seven had nothing to do with the Paralympics, except for perhaps showing some wheelchair crashes for 30 seconds during the sport segment on the news.

I mean, what if commercial TV (since Nine airs the games starting from 2010 Vancouver winter games) uses a studio during the Olympics and ABC uses it during the Paralympics.

Would all depend on the relative costs I imagine? As TVNZ and ABC Aus are both PSBs they might also have closer working relationships - and no inate rivalry as they broadcast to different countries (and thus can share sets more easily as well?).

If Channel Seven and ABC Aus shared facilities it would be like the BBC and ITV sharing studios...

... and, nothing?

Sorry, what?

I mean, there was no discussion from five days ago.
