With the way Channel 4's ratings have been going at the minute (e.g. being beaten by Channel 5 on quite a few occasions!), its no surprise they're cashing on on it. It's not as though it's the most rivetting piece of TV at the minute. Its just background noise for me, and funnily enough I perk up when the adverts come on Laughing .

Where are you getting these instant viewing stats from, SWatson?

I would like to think they are high, but am not sure that a commercial broadcaster can suddenly change advertising slot timings to any great degree without potential penalty payments. These sorts of timings/costs are agree months in advance,

Where have I said anything about the amount of viewers watching tonight? I'm just speaking about the figures from the last few days/weeks where they've been fairly low at times, sometimes being beaten by Channel 5.

Undoubtedly, Channel 4 will currently have their biggest audience of the year, and probably biggest audience since last years Gypsy Weddings. For a channel funded by adverts, they'd be mad not to be cashing in on this.

I don't think the BBC had installed a lift in its shipping container studio.
They did - the DDA required them to, plus Tanni Grey-Thompson was down to be a guest.

"The stadium audience can't get enough of this, it's already running massively over". No Krishnan, they're pondering whether the trains will be held so they can get back home tonight.

I think that has been the general problem with the build up to the Games. The UK media has really focused on those competitors who have become disabled due to wars etc, whilst kinda ignoring those athletes who were born with their disabilities.

Any time I saw Tanni she seemed to be strategically placed in the middle of a flower bed outside Buckingham Palace! Never saw her in the studio once.

I think that's purely because of the origins of the games, and to an extent 7/7 happening the day after London was confirmed as the 2012 host (and subsequently finally getting closure for 7/7).

My apologies.

I merely misinterpreted your comment when reading through posts rather quickly. Embarassed

I was thinking you had SECRET access to such info. Laughing

Many years ago they used to announce such info on the news because electricity consumption suddenly spiked on the National Grid when everyone went to make a cuppa during the adverts, and they used to somehow convert that to an estimate of the number of viwers.

Do we think there will a different set of host broadcaster graphics for these games then?

It's hard to see how what we've seen tonight could translate into sports coverage though.

I don't think it can, Jon.

Methinks it will revert to OBS graphics for the games coverage.

It would just seem strange, we've randomly got something different tonight. Although I suspect you're correct.
