We won't know who the athletes are but at least know how many people did in the various civil wars in each country.
Has a list of commentators been revealed yet - I'm assuming the likes of Jon Rawling and Rob Walker will do the athletics (Iwan Thomas is), so surely there is an obvious choice to at least join Krishnan and give it a more sporting perspective. I do think with both the Olympics and Paralympics although they appeal to a wider audience the ceremonies are still essentially about sport, so sports people should be involved.

I didn't know it was BBC owned, just assumed the Olympic Committee gave them priority because they were the official broadcaster
