For Christ's sake lads, stop it and grow up. Simon can be interested in what he likes. A lot of people would call *you* saddos for posting in a forum about TV presentation. I don't know what your problem is. So what if some people like the music that accompanies Pages from Ceefax? It may not be your cup of tea (it isn't mine) but it's a valid pres issue and as such deserves mentioning on this forum just as much as anything else.

EDIT: Back on topic, though, sad to hear that Ceefax at the weekends is off more to do with it being an institution more than anything else... although a shadow of its former self with only five or ten minutes some nights. Oh well.

A suggestion for late night BBC-2.

They show slow scan photo captures of the BBC Radio 2 on air presenter accompanied by the audio from BBC Radio 2.

Or they just keep showing a repeating sequence of Newsnight.

It works for other public broadcasters who are short of cash, so why not for the BBC?

What about late-night classified ads ...

Oh no, hang on, doesn't somebody already do that?

Simon, if you miss Pages from Ceefax that much, tune to terrestrial BBC1 or BBC2, go to page 152, turn your TV volume down and then find some cheesy "bossa-nova" style music and stick it in your CD player and, there you go, your own home-made version of "Pages from Ceefax" - and at a more sociable hour!

PErsonally, I think PFC should stay for the same reason it's lasted this long - it's an inexpensive, readily available way for the BBC to fill a gap of indeterminate length. Creating new shows just for the gap would be a waste of money, sticking repeats in may not sit flush with the LZ schedule, N24 would not be worth doing on three channels at once (unless for a really major event e.g. 9/11) and a BBCi roll would not work from a technical standpoint. So I am, unless a better solution comes along, definitely pro-PFC.

funny that.

I have an account to lycos from bbcnews24@lycos.co.uk - somehow I'd get all these bounced e-mails addressed sent to gay/adult websites (no I'm not joking) claiming to be sent from a Mark Boulton...but using my e-mail address. I've always found YOU annoying and irritating most of the time.

Would you care to explain the point of staying up through the night listening to lift music watching news presented in the style of a BBC Micro? (The BBC Micro is a very old, Spectrum-like computer for our younger anoraks).

edward, I have it on good authority that Mark "Butt-Plug" Boulton is in league with Max's dad, hence the porn websites. I've even heard that they are sleeping together.
