What I don't understand is why does it appear we are set for Pages From Ceefax tonight from 00.20-1.00am on BBC-2 whilst BBC-1 is still running normal programming into the early hours, whilst next Monday night/Tuesday morning there are plans afoot to fill the gap from 00.30-1.00am with News 24? It makes no sense whatsoever!

DigiGuide is still advertising that slot as "To Be Announced", when normally it's "Joins BBC News 24" or in the case of Ceefax, "Programmes resume at..."

I noticed intermittent green flashes the other night during a late BBC TWO Ceefax In-Vision broadcast. Problem with a cable perhaps?

Pure speculation but they have been known to test the switching arrangements for TVC evacuation and somewhere else (still Pebble Mill?) taking over pres whilst Ceefax has been on, wonder if that may have been the cause?

Assuming it is still Pebble Mill BirMingham. That could have been outside the 4:3 safe area and Mike could have been watching in 4:3? </clutching at straws>

Indeed it is, and for about 40 minutes!

Where do they get all the cheesy on hold style elevator music from? Was it specially written for them?

It's specially composed for Ceefax - or at least the Christmas stuff is.

Tonights selection sounds like it's been mixed by Freeplay music Confused .

The music is NOT specially written for Ceefax. It comes from Production Music Librairies, e.g. Bruton, Atmosphere, Chappell and Sonoton. Last night's Mini-Disc played was produced by Funtastic Music.

Apologies for that error. Embarassed

Yet more pages from Ceefax this morning! Laughing

Any reason why this specifically comes off MD?

Ceefax music is, of course, highly damaging to the health of certain members of the population.

In the "old days", the velvet voiced "announcer" would prompt you to salute the Queen and then put the cat out, or return home to your wife. "Oh- and don't forget to switch it off AT THE WALL."

However, Ceefax has ensured that millions of single, slightly smelly men who still live with their mums are getting no sleep! Not getting much of anything, in fact.

Legions of pallid, "Mr. Bean" look-alikes waiting in eager anticipation for those legendary words, "... and, in the meantime, some pages from Ceefax". Imagine the tension (and the need for the toilet) while they wait nervously to discover which "disc" will be played tonight!

One final point- I wonder how many burglars have been deterred by bursting in on a "Ceefax viewer". In some ways, it's an invaluable public service.

I'll post the logging details later.
