Yeah, the thing works onscreen so why bother spending even a penny on a replacement? Change for the sake of change....and that's exactly why Ceefax continues. It's convenient and readily available. I'm sure there isn't even a debate in the Beeb over whether to replace it with a static holding slide.
Interesting to note "This is BBC Two" is on from 11.40pm tomorrow night. Obviously N24 will be shown (it's probably just listed wrong) but if this had been the case before the joining N24 policy was introduced, would that have been the earliest PFC had been shown for years?
Nice to see the closedown annos still continuing but some of them are so mundane - usual Learning Zone plug and "..here's Ceefax." Manju Malhi seems to the same script each time which is a shame considering she did so many in the old BBC Two days.
Nice one the other night though with the ending "...after some Pages from Ceefax and music to conjour up images of the Amalfi Coast ." Cue Italian-type music.
