This morning's Carlton start-up

So after GMTV have said 'See you tomorrow, 6.00-9.25', they fade to black, and the opening ident plays. Unfortunately, GMTV's caption stayed on screen for an extra 10 seconds in the London region, faded to black and literally went off-air.

Reporting Scotland

Are there any other BBC Scotland viewers who noticed that from 6:30 last night we now have two anchors at the newsdesk and an extended studio? I wondered if this was because the Irish Prime Minister was in Scotland yesterday and they went Live to him attending a special ceremony.

CANAL+

Does anybody - particularly PZG - know anything about Canal+? You see their adverts at football matches, and seem to see their logo everywhere. As far as I can make out they have their own channels and satellite platforms in every European country except the UK - France, Belgium, Spain, Finland.

STATE OPENING OF PARLI

I actually caught part of BBC's hilarious coverage this morning: Tony Benn commenting to Dimbleby about the fact Parli was once again being undermined, pointing out that they in the studio (actually a cttee room in HoC) had a copy of Queen's Speech BEFORE the Queen read it.

I was wondering, which country makes use of widescreen on domestic TV services? I think that the UK is a leader in the race at least because even news is in 'widescreen' (BBC) and adverts are now made and supplied in 16:9.
