I think the idea of both of them being in a really crappy old people's home, sharing a room, with guest oldies, and a games room etc, would be a great way to bring the show back, and make their age play into the comedy.

Started with rainbow a british Revolution in better Kids TV
I had the same issues in the 90s. I liked the puppets but tended to find a lot of the rest of it confusing in a way that, for example, Playdays was not.
