Totally agree. Like his BBC colleague Bill Mclaren, they're not remembered for their gift to the game playing, but for their gift to the game in voice. A true broadcasting great, sadly missed. RIP

We used to get BRT (I think) from Belgium on the south coast quite cleanly (though no sound as we didn't have a PAL-G compatible telly)

How was the coming of UK Colour Tv promoted at the time?

The excellent TV Studio History website suggests that TC6,7 and 8 could all, in theory, originate 525 lines. As built, these studios shared an apparatus room and the 525 line gear could be used with any of them.
