I’m asking who owns central and it back catalogue along with programmes, Themes, tunes, idents and any theme music used:

Is it Carlton, ITV, or someone else?

The reason I’m asking I have no idea who actually owns it, I know ATV belongs to Carlton but I have no idea who controls Central things,

There is thing going around saying most of the stuff was Binned I can’t believe that! sd there were a major power house of the OLD ITV

Yes I remember Central but I wasn't born until just After ATV kick the bucket!

So If I ask ITV very nicely there tell me some information, Who DO I ask in ITV then?

Would the hold all the Masters of everything?

As Carlton IS ITV

But Carlton also has its Advertising business and its Back catalogue as well but that not part of ITV is it?

Central Independent Television is owned by what could be described as the Carlton TV arm of ITV Plc.

Technically the back catalogue is also owned by the same arm, though I believe its under Granada ownership, again under the ITV Plc umbrella.

Central was ATV in different colours; the company was forced to restructure and rebrand itself in order to secure the licence in the 1982 franchise round. In 1994, Carlton bought the company, warts and all. In 2002 the whole lot was absorbed into ITV Plc.

As for stuff that has been binned - it's true. Anything useful is reused or auctioned off. Everything else was dumped. As happened with the old Lenton Lane studios in Nottingham, all the technical equipment, the editing, the cameras, everything useful was for sale. After the programme library was moved to wherever (as one can make a packet on it in syndication), the campus was sold to the University of Nottingham.

thanks for the infor, so ITV duty office should be able to tell me,

also ITV Does own "Carlton Screen Advertising" and and everything else to do with Carlton plus it owned 45% of TV3 Ireland.

thank goodness that Compass took all of Granada's food and hospitality business with it or ITV would own motoaway service! Shocked

For me the end of the TRUE Granada happened at the time when they split Compass from Granada. FOr some reason when they were both under the Granada umbrella they somehow worked together and was successful. When seperated Grabada became very predatory, under Charles Allen, and ended up with the monster we have today (hopefully the monster is maturing into a well groomed prince under Grade and Shaps!)

Does Carlton Screen Advertising count? Otherwise No.
