I love
Outnumbered
. It's so... erm... cringeworthy. In a good way. And the bovine TB line was so clever. It had me in stitches.
This really deserves to be on primetime BBC1, 9:00 on Fridays if not 8:30.

It's about a mother and father who are outnumbered 3:2 by their children (one has just started secondary school, the others are in infant school). It's partly improvised, which is how I assume the bovine TB line came about.

I do wonder how that works in practice. How much of it actually is scripted, especially with the youngest child

Anyone know how its doing? It's quite funny, and clever in the way that the children just had a idea of the storyline and made there own lines up on the way, you can tell the difference. I dont really like the father character though.

I think each scene has a theme, like the girl having nits, but the cast just use their own thoughts and ideas.
When the little girl was having her hair deloused you could see the mum smirking when the child was saying she wanted a nit town living in her hair.
children are good at improvising which is why they sound natural, it would be good to see the outakes though

Considering it is "The one to watch tonight" every night (and considering it is in a 10.35 slot, that doesn't say much for the prime time schedule), I expect it will be recommissioned

A 20 min sample was sent to BBC Comedy, and then a 6part series was commisioned. A return next year is still hanging in the balance.

Thought it was a refreshingly well done comedy. I note that 'After Your Gone' is back for the primetime slot this Friday and the comparisons between the two programmes are quite evident, unfortunately not to the latter’s favour.
Hugh Dennis delivered a wholly believable and genuinely funny performance supported by an out-standing cast of 'smaller' people, the characters of Karen and Ben being particularly worthy of note.
In itself it was a wonderfully simple yet very effective piece of comedy. I also found the scheduling 'interesting'. It wasn't detrimental having such a staggered run over every night and at 10.35 but it paid off.
I sincerely hope this is re-commissioned - a comic gem in the making.
