While these meetings do take place every now and again, the contents are not released. There will be a statement following the meeting which is getting everyone talking about

Well it's given the media something to talk about whilst politics is almost verboten till 10pm. Excellent timing.

Well given the nature of the hype caused you would be forgiven thinking something major was up. This could have been sorted yesterday evening with a generic press release.

"Buckingham Palace to make a minor announcement tomorrow morning"

There, sorted. Pls hire me Lizzie.

They hyped up the queen's health a few months ago when all she had was a cold...

I don't think it's the Palace's fault that people bought into made up hype

It was a very easily avoidable situation though.

There'll be a hunt for whosoever leaked that there'd be a meeting. That's why there's been so much SocMed coverage this morning. It shouldn't have been known about.

They didn't hype anything. All they said was there would be an announcement.

It was blown out of proportion overnight by the colonials who were awake and speculating and putting 2 and 2 together, with no input from the Palace as we were all asleep.

The '3am emergency meeting' seems to be the main catalyst for speculation today. That sounds like either the impending announcement was announced at 3am, or there was a timezone confusion and 10am BST is 3am where ever reported it
