I think because of the rankings battle, that could see Murray overtake Djokovic by the end of the year or early next year, there is a perception that UK viewers would prefer a Wawrinka win tonight.
This won't get them the viewing figures they would have done if Murray had made the final, and at the same time it has got a little boring in recent years to see Djokovic always making finals (I didn't tune in until the third set and I'm still only half-watching whereas a final with Murray or without Djokovic would probably have my full attention).
Tennis fans either love him or hate Djokovic it seems, whereas I get the impression there is less hate for Federer or Nadal, or Murray.
