I agree, but where in this thread has anyone said they were surprised it had CV19 related content?

Odd approach this from the Beeb. Given the concert took place last night and there were several hours of performances you'd have thought it would just be 'the best bits' of the concert and a respite from the situation we're all in currently.
Whereas whenever I catch any of it, it seems to be Dermot, Clara or Claudia and human stories with the odd musical performance and all it's doing is reminding more than ever how hopeless I feel in this situation.

I didn't interpret BFGArmy's comments as expecting the show to be 100% free of CV19 content, but rather it was a CV19 info/feature programme with the concert material used as filler ? (Which is how it came across to me)

Indeed expected the coverage to be more like say the One Love Manchester concert where obviously the concert was a response to the bombings and that horrible incident was mentioned but the whole thing was treated more as a chance to come together and enjoy something. Whereas instead most of the time here the music played second fiddle to video packages reminding us about coronavirus or Dermot, Claudia and Clara doing links.

And I get the ‘the performances are available elsewhere’ argument but by that token MOTD may as well not show football highlights since goals are available on Youtube, the Sky apps, if you have even a little online knowledge.

Exactly. I don't think anyone came to this expecting 60% of the show to consist of Covid advice and updates rather than the majority of it being made up of the performances it was sold on.

I dipped in and out of the live ABC feed on YouTube of the main event, and I have to say I was glad the BBC packaged it the way they did. It made it much more watchable for me rather than just having clip after clip after clip as per the original. Was 3 presenters a bit excessive? Probably.

I quite liked the way they would cut between having the clips full frame and having them displayed in the studio, it made things a little more visually interesting.

Well Dermot O'Leary must have had a growth spurt in lockdown then.

I think I'd probably trust people actually there in the studio rather than someone trying to judge it by watching on telly in 2D.

I don't know why you'd think they'd be ignoring it. It was the whole point of the programme.

I though the point of the programme was 'Stay at home'.

About perception though isn't it and the perception went against the message. Did have Dougal and Father Ted in mind though when that shot was on screen.
