The only piece of computer software that I'm aware of (there are no doubt others) that forces hypernation out of the box like in that tweet is Microsoft Publisher, and its one of those irritating defaults in that particular program with regards to its text boxes that really annoys me, because it makes everything hard to read.

Not unique to Publisher by any stretch (since Word will do the same given half a chance).

Adobe InDesign does it by default as well.

I was thinking the same

I'd imagine it's something to do with the deadly virus that's going around throwing everything into chaos. I can't say for sure, but you know, just a hunch.

No need to bring everything back to the virus. They're still working in social media management / PR whether they're working in an office or from home. I know that the hyphenation is an unimportant matter, but it was a light-hearted comment by David there.

The virus will have an impact on things, but that's something we're already aware of. We don't need constant reminders on a TV presentation forum every time somebody makes an innocent comment.

BBC One has secured the first UK television broadcast of One World: Together At Home
If Channel 5 was showing it live, BBC One wouldn't have the first UK television broadcast of it. It's only on ViacomCBS's channels in the US.

Channel 5 are showing the programme as per the ViacomCBS press release

The ViacomCBS brands airing the special include broadcast networks CBS in the U.S., Channel 5 in the UK, Network 10 in Australia, and Telefe in Argentina; BET and MTV globally across 180+ countries; and CMT, Comedy Central, Logo, MTV2, Paramount Network, Pop, TV Land and VH1 in the U.S.

I guess it's possible that Channel 5 will show after BBC1

Yeah, that's possible. But definitely not live like Jonwo claimed.

Having just watched the final two hours of this, it actually lasted eight, I can see now why broadcating this live into the UK wouldn't have worked. The ad breaks were a little too frequent and the Covid-19 content clearly US centric. An edit down to 90mins will work for the BBC. UK additional content will be valuable too.

BBC and Channel 5 are both showing it - with the BBC edit broadcasting first.

Saw a few minutes of it online last night. Jessie J screeching via Zoom did not entice me to continue watching.

Elton John’s performance of “I’m Still Standing” was awful too. Turned that off after he started singing. Shame really, I love that song.

It just has no appeal at all to me. Surprised the BBC even picked it up really.
