Moira Stuart was always just an average newsreader with a monotone delivery - she was only really useful to the BBC because she was always prepared to do the Christmas Day shift when no-one else would.
Rightly jettisoned as deadwood.

How rude!

Well here's the deal, juvenile shelf-stacker ... Moira Stuart was always one of those throwbacks to another era.
Let's examine the facts - she had no journalistic training. little personality and a delivery that you'd normally expect from a priest as your coffin was being lowered into the ground.
Even the simplest of simpletons presenting the news on any of the BBC's channels would be expected to be able to react live to changing news, interview anyone at the drop of a hat, write their own links and be able to work without a script.
AND be good looking.
Did Moira pass muster on any of these ?
The only surprise is that she lasted as long as she did.

What a narrowminded little world you inhabit, Guru. What will happen to 'Mrs Guru' once she no longer measures up to your exacting standards - or did she come with a puncture repair kit?

I don't think that's as important as you think it is....

I'm sure John Humphries could disagree.

With regard to the rest of your post, I am interested to hear your views on Peter Sissons before proceeding with any rebuttal, as one could easily say he embodies all the faults you've highlighted in presenting style whilst being trained in all the things moira was not.

Richard Baker,Kenneth Kendall,Richard Whitmore and Jan Leeming and no doubt some others of that era were NOT journalists either .Baker and Dougall were employed by BBC initially as radio announcers and newsreaders and moved onto read tv news.

Hymie Baby - you're living in a jam sandwich, Potters Wheel rose-tinted world of a by-gone era.
It's sweet but unrealistic.
Just tell me what you do for a living.
Menial work ?

Any reason you didn't answer any of his counterpoints and just went straight to insults?

Clearly nothing less menial than you, otherwise you wouldn't be using up so much of your free time on an internet forum.

His point was that they're journalists and are TERRIBLE at all the things you mentioned that they need to be able to do.
