As an England fan in Scotland, is there any chance for me to watch the England match tonight? It's not on BBC One (that's the Scotland match) and they don't appear to have done their usual england switch onto BBC Two.

Will it be on BBCi?

I have cable so the option of going to any of the english regions as on Sky is not available.

why can't S4C have the Wales games as Sky seem to have abandoned their bilingual commentary thing?
Working here - commentary in Welsh one of the interactive options.

Anyhoo I reckon Poland will lose tonight 2-1. Wales will win 2-0 against the Azeri, Ulster will lose 2-0 to Austria and Ireland will draw with Switzerland 0-0. (Check for edits to this post at 10pm!!!)

BTW are ALL England home games still on the BBC next year? And if so, why can't S4C have the Wales games as Sky seem to have abandoned their bilingual commentary thing?

Since when did Ulster have a Soccer team?

They've had one for years. Frank Mitchell is their goalie Wink

A bit OT, but as it's the only thing that I imagine ITV will cover sportswise in the future, it will be interesting to see what ITV does at the next Rugby World Cup in 2007 - I remember UTV opted out of the national coverage of Ireland games to have local analysis and commentary, presented by Logie and replacing the ITV logo with the UTV one. Not badly executed either. Can't recall if STV or HTV Wales opted out in a similar way for Scotland and Wales matches.

Also, when was the last time STV/Grampian/Border Scottish opted out from a networked Champions League game to show a live match featuring Celtic or Rangers instead of M********r U****d or another English team?

I'm not sure the current deal allows ITV to show more than two matches, with Sky getting the third (i.e. Scottish!) game! However, in the new deal signed beginning next year it's specifically mentioned ITV can opt out to show Scottish games on Grampian/STV/Border.

And I'm no Liverpool fan, but surely them winning the CL warrants them the odd screening on ITV1. I certainly thought their first game was more worthy of airtime than Chelsea!

Though ITV2 not being regional complicates things, it's not that long ago when Granada or London opted out of the main network match to screen their local teams!

STV opt out every time there is a Scottish club playing on Tuesday.

What it does mean is that Scottish viewers generally get the Scottish match on both STV and Sky, with the main English match unavailable (obviously Sky viewers can tune in other ITV stations).

The new contract is effectively the same as the current one in this respect.

STV also shows a Wednesday night highlights programme when a Scottish team plays, something ITV fails to do in England.

The net result is that Scottish supporters get a better deal from their local ITV station than English supporters

Seriously though Alexia, why did you say Ulster and not Northern Ireland? Methinks you're getting your football and rugby teams mixed up? I've never heard ANYONE refer to the Northern Ireland football team as Ulster....ever. Confused
