She did 4-7pm and the ceremonies,

Indeed, although I think she often came on late depending on the events, and after 6pm was on BBC Two. Plus with events being presented on location by another presenter, she'd maybe do a few links and that was it.

Gary Lineker and Mishal Hussain had the best slots at London, along with the presenters who presented a major sport on location, John Inverdale, Clare Balding, Jake Humphrey.

When we were at the Olympic Park the crowds outside the BBC studio were chanting "We love Sue Barker!"!! Quite right too!

If you're as freakishly excited about this extravaganza of sport and broadcasting as I am, and you have a spare 12 minutes, give this a look:

And ashamed as I am to say, I was in that crowd chanting 'We love Sue Barker' beside the shipping containers. It'll be odd not having her on screen in Rio.

Wouldn't it be an idea to temporarily re brand BBC Four as BBC Sport

I don't think that would be appropriate. I don't think they want to make it look as though they've shut down another channel, by stealth . . . Shocked

The impacts on BBC Four weren't to my knowledge mentioned at all during the consultation on BBC3. If this is how they plan to proceed they'd have been better off closing BBC3 & BBC4 and launching a new third channel.

Technically they do, and it's on round the year, called BBC Red Button 1.

But Red Button 1 is (quite low quality) SD-only - and I can't imagine them wanting to put Rio 2016 coverage out SD-only.

Realize this is a UK forum but I'd thought I'd throw in some of the details of NBC's coverage for CNBC and MSNBC. In total they will be airing 120.5 hours of coverage, specifically 42 for CNBC and 78.5 on MSNBC. CNBC will air coverage from 5-8PM ET after the business day has closed and MSNBC will air coverage from 12-5PM most days. CNBC will carry basketball, volleyball, beach volleyball, cycling, water polo and rugby. MSNBC will also broadcast men's basketball, beach volleyball, water polo, rugby soccer and other sports.

Also, NBC will be distributing select 4K content to video providers provided by the OBS and NHK a day after it airs. It's up to the providers to determine how they want to distribute the content - whether OnDemand or a special linear stream. Additionally the opening ceremony will be provided in HDR (high dynamic range) with Dolby Atmos sound.

I wonder if Comcast (NBC's parent company) will finally release their 4K boxes in time for the Olympics? They were supposed to launch last year but as of February they're still in employee trials. I believe DirecTV is the only US provider that provides a linear 4K channel.

We don't even have sky 4K boxes here in uk, we will be lucky to get any 4K olympics Sad I believe the providers, ebu here will distribute it in the new efficient and proprietary modulation for the 4K content.

Yes. And Sky has an Ultra HD channel testing in preparation for the commercial launch of services.

Yes but we won't get 4K olympics or euros, Sky as usual too late.
