Ah, that explains it. Thanks!

Then, this is the opening theme for these Olympics Games for FTV : http://medias.lenodal.com/video.php?id=12615 shown just after the Tour de France's final ceremony, in the France 2 sunday's sport show, Stade 2 .

This opening is a part of a big reconstruction of all opening sport show into the new brand : FranceTVSport, lunched just befor Roland Garros. Wink

Will this brand be used for all sporting events shown on the France Télévisions channels from now on, or just for major multi-channel/cross-platform events such as the Olympics?

(Also, are there any plans to create a similar single brand for France 2's and France 3's news operations? They've been quite separate so far.)

And I agreed for the tennis.

Wow did they lose much money on it?

Can you use an English site that doesn't bombard me with adverts for 'hot babes underage' (after Google Translate) please, I'm gay for starters and the latter won't go down well with my employer. It claims to use Google Ads, now I know I've been on no sites with that sort of content!

Hmm, why don't you use Adblock then?

Yes, this brand is used for every sports broadcasted on FTV (since Roland Garos and also in the Tour de France, 24h du Mans, the Critérium du Dauphiné), and the trandmark is also aviable on FranceTV Sport website and in applications downloadable [<- I don't know if I can say that in english ?] (only in France) on smartphones.

(Also, are there any plans to create a similar single brand for France 2's and France 3's news operations? They've been quite separate so far.)

This brand will be used by every France Télévisions channels (France 2/3/4/O)

I don't really know if they lost a lot, because, as I said, Eurosport will have a whole coverage of these Games, and as Eurosport is a part of Groupe TF1, I think they should break-even the cost by selding to FTV. (But it's only to my mind Wink)

Sorry, I wasn't quite clear enough. I was just wondering whether France Télévisions might eventually launch a single brand for news ( FranceTVInfo , perhaps?) like they did for sports. Only time will tell, I suppose.

You get right. The brand FranceTV Info is first a platform from all France Télévisions news redactions (as national as regionals) who was lauched November 15th 2011 as a website, then France Télévision Multimédias lauched the coresponding application on smartphones.

But all newscast from FTV channels has their own redaction (2 nationals for France 2 and 3, at least 24 regional for all regionals part of France 3, 1 for France O, 9 for the overseas channels Outre-mer 1ère [each one have their own], and the documentary France 5 have a little news program made by France2's redaction).
There is not a global FTV news redaction under the FranceTV Info brand. Until now, the only time this trendmark was seen on screen was at the all beginning of The Bastille Day (fête nationale française) opening coverage on France 2, on July 14th. Wink

I hope it was clear for everybody (And I'm sorry for my poor english). Smile

Thanks for your explanation, Facy5 -- it makes perfect sense. (And your English is fine! I would just replace "redaction" with "newsroom" or "news department".)

Here is what Al Jazeera Sports' large studio out the back of ITV looks like:

The other side has 2 big screens, presumably they'll be showing some of the games

Really odd to see how olympic logo of Eurosport was changing for lots of times this morning

It was quite hard to put a countdown near logo. Sizes of olympic rings were changed for lots of times.

Despite the Games proper not having yet started, I think this has to be the year that the "Graphics for the new Millenium" (as they were titled in Sydney when the look was introduced) are retired. A new look, with new guidelines (especially regarding animation - seriously WTH is going on with this set, some cut in, some fade in, some animate in, no sense of a unifying look) should really be a neccessity for the next Summer Games, if not the Winter Games.
