Tenuously connected to television coverage of the Games, but it's just been announced that the in-venue presenters for spectators will include established names such as Ben Shephard and Gethin Jones.

As for 2 Lock Keepers Cottages, heres's a picture I took a month or two back that shows how close it is to the stadium:

(EDIT: Ah, only just saw Brekkie's link, which proves the point further)

Any idea where where NBC in the US and Nine & FOXTEL from Australia will have their studios, or are they not sending anyone over?

NBC's Today have their own street level, outdoor structure which they've used for the past few years.
This was it in Beijing in 2008.

The interesting thing about NBC Today in Beijing was that the gallery for the Beijing studio was in New York - they fibred each camera in Beijing back separately to the US, and cut them in their normal (I think) gallery at 30 Rock.

I understand a significant number of broadcasters (SVT and NRK for instance) are doing the same this time - with their main Olympic studios in London having each camera feed sent back separately to base so that the coverage can be produced and directed from domestic facilities. Major cost savings in needing fewer staff, facilities, and less space on-site.

Looks an awful lot like NBC have brought the same studio to London:

and here's Al Jazeera Sport's studio at Dennison Point, as seen from the roof of Lund Point:

The rights for the Olympics this year seem to be shared across TF1 and France TV. Is this normal? I thought they were usually just on France TV.

I was going to say aren't they on France Televisions - I'm sure I've seen info about that.

And for countries which don't do their own openings, these are the official host broadcasters titles since 1992. The Barcelona ones are so dire compared to the Barcelona theme anyone of a certain age (they're the first games I remember) will remember. Indeed I wonder if it hadn't been for that Barcelona theme whether the BBC would have continued using the Chariots of Fire theme used in 1984 and 1988 for their Summer Olympic coverage.

No sight yet of the London one, but it should appear on Wednesday at the latest I'd have thought.

They're running this promo though it might just be an Olympic-related programme and not part of any wider coverage.

This article confirms they are the broadcaster and have like the BBC retained the rights through to 2020. Some rights have been on sold to beIN Sport so I guess they've passed the ceremonies on to TF1 for whatever reason:

Sorry, Im a newbie here on tv forum, even though ive been reading those forums for really long time.

So, Im one of the only russians here among with German Rudnev , who visits this forum really rarely nowadays.
And he's my nice friend, btw..

What about broadcasting in Belarus (now im here) and Russia?

Belarus 2 will cancel all(!!) ordinary programmes just to show all olympic events(except of lottery and weather at 9)

In Russia, theres one channel called Sport 1(which is cable, but its in 16:9, and has HD quality, usually this channel shows English Premier League) , and it will show olympic events only.
Also, 2 main channels share the major broadcasting of events, Russia 2 and Channel One

Apparently, TF1 will only air the opening and closing ceremonies.

How about Channel 4? Could they return to the Cottages for the Paralympics?

The best Olympic logo, ever . Even better than NBC one.

On state Belarus 2 channel(which consists of sport, entertainment and documentaries) you can see some programme called "London 2012. The Countdown"

Identity looks very 80s-90s. (so odd to see it today) And format seems to be quite old-fashioned.

At first, there you can see some polls, dedicated to all Olympics(check your skills)
Then, you can see the story about belarussian sportsmen, who will take part in Olympics
Then, something about the kind of sport, which is included in Olympics, its history, and role of Belarus
Then, ripped-off official videos by organizers, which look quite strange, it doesnt go with identity package back from 90s. Also, its in "letterbox" resolution. Originally-16:9, its compressed into 4:3.

Here's my recording
