That was a tweet by Rainn Wilson (from the US Office). It was clearly a joke but thousands of Brit twitts took it seriously becasue we don't get saracasm or irony.
Hang on, you're being ironic, right ?

There aren't an infinite number of studio positions with decent views and windows available - and many broadcasters don't have unlimited budgets.
AIUI just as in previous games, many IBC studios won't have windows at all. (Remember the BBC in Sydney had no windows - they ended up running a VR system with cameras in a harbour-side apartment)
There is a second studio base, similar to the BBC's, AIUI - which some broadcasters are using - but I suspect many can't afford it.

It's surprising more broadcasters don't go for a window view of the park, instead more of them focus on major London landmarks and a lot of major broadcasters having screens and not windows.

I suspect the quoted BBC Producer was being polite about the ZSpace Foxtel set... Bezel-less plasmas and an anodyne desk which could easily be in Sydney vs a stylish sofa and a decent floor-to-ceiling window view...

You would think though more would opt for their fake view to be of the Olympic park. And why on earth do CCTV need seven sets?
