I've been looking on the NBC Olympic site and the country info pages are really bad! West Yorkshire a city? South Sudan is still part of Sudan.

Libya is using the green flag and is called 'Libyan Arab Jamahiriya', despite now just being Libya.

And China's map including Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan on the left.

I was choking with laughter when I read that West Yorkshire was one of our major cities. Americans don't portray a good image of themselves with such dire geography (and the inability to research it properly).

It is God's own country, after all. The Republicans would forbid invasion in fear of alienating Christians.

Plus their bit of the IBC apparently has a Starbucks and a Pret.

Why didn't they took the data from CIA's World Book? That's pitiful.

Some NBC caps from the package designer - clearly an evolution from the last few games. Hopefully they'll add the video once the games are over and the IOC and NBC are sligthly less anal about it.

The US really is a different country when it comes to graphics and presentation isn't it?

Bob Costas looks like he's presenting the mid-90s Nine O'Clock News ...

They're very well executed - I just don't 'get' them.

I see some of you are surprised by the fact that NBC is *ahem* "geographically challenged." I'm not; after all, NBC is the network whose commentators once covered and entire ski jumping race convinced that the Slovenian ski jumpers were Slovaks -- and whose graphics kept showing the Slovak flag next to "SLO" (Slovenia 's three-letter country code).

The CTV opening, though rather harshly it's been announced midway through their coverage of the games they've lost the Canadian rights and 2014/16 will be on CBC.

Can't find the Channel 9 titles at the moment but as Seven did they have that over zealous copyright warning at the beginning - the only nation I know to do it and puts the start of the broadcast on a real downer IMO. Has anyone seen the Foxtel titles?

I think I can now see why CBC got the rights back.

Those are truly awful. Horrific plinky plonky music - and Olympic Titles Cliché 1 - they've got archive clips in them... How imaginative.

Like the Danish TV2 stuff - simple, clean, effective. Also like them using English (which 99.999999999999% of Denmark understands *) in their programme titles - nice little touch. (Haven't watched any Danish coverage yet - will hope to tomorrow - are DR and TV2 sharing? Or are TV2 covering it as non-rights holders in a News context?)

(*) Yes - I know that % is made up...
