IIRC to make it look like the US finished top of the medal table last games, NBC adopted a totally different system to the rest of the world.

They're still doing it - http://www.nbcolympics.com/medals/2012-standings/index.html

1) United States 14 8 9 - 31
2) China 17 9 4 - 30

That's changed now, its saying that China is top of the table.

Regardless, the table is still based on total haul.

If you click "see names" that table counts each member of a team as having a separate medal, so currently the US have 38 golds. Rolling Eyes

One positive thing to come out of NBC largely taping it's coverage is that they appear to be "letting" the BBC's Sharon Davies have the first out-of-the-pool reaction interviews from many of the the Team USA swimmers.

She said a brief thanks to NBC on-air regarding this earlier tonight.

Yes - an advantage with NBC not being live... Sharon has been great - the swimmers (of all nationalities) appear to appreciate the fact she knows what she's talking about, and she's confident and fluent.

My understanding was that, as 'home broadcaster', the BBC were getting first dibs on the post-match interviews. (The area where these interviews takes place is called, for reasons I don't quite understand, a "Mixed Zone".)

Somebody mentioned a "commentary handbook" - what is this? Can we get a copy of it? Are there any other interesting documents and guides that the TV/Radio companies are referencing that people have found, either leaked or on public websites?

I think it'd be really interesting to see some of the technical details. I'll take anything that anybody has.

Wow, so many fails for NBC, what a mess.

That said, I like the Today Olympic set, also nice, clean graphics, shocking for a US network. They just had a huge wind/rain storm and it was funny to see people behind run for cover. The presenters and whole crew were amused. Laughing

I'm sure that Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland will love that the only languages spoken in the UK are English... No need for BBC Alba and S4C then...

There's usually a technical bible given to all rights holders. I had a copy of the Beijing one. It includes full schedules, camera plans for each venue etc. ISTR it was about 800 pages long.

I won't be uploading it.

Isn't it Mics Zone = Mixed Zone?

Could be wrong though.
