This is Dennison Point, a big ugly tower block in Stratford with a nice view of the Olympic Park.

The big ugly thing on the top is Al Jazeera's studio for the games.
(The BBC are going to be at the top of a very similar tower block nearby, and seem to have garnered a bit more news coverage than Al Jaz have...)

Suggested via RTP and I think it's a good idea - may as well create a thread for discussion that doesn't involve BBC coverage of the event.

BBC coverage in here and there will probably be a new one created over the event itself.

Any idea where where NBC in the US and Nine & FOXTEL from Australia will have their studios, or are they not sending anyone over?

NBC's Today have their own street level, outdoor structure which they've used for the past few years.
This was it in Beijing in 2008.

What happens is, you make a thread when you have something to say about the subject matter. You didn't thus the thread was not needed.

The tower block studios are a great idea. The blocks are being knocked down after the games so are empty and the broadcasters can do almost whatever they want with them. They get a nice view and the council get some extra income. I don't know whether its still the case but my understanding is that the BBC were going to have more floors than it needed so was going to sub-let space to others, sharing some of the technical infrastructure.

I believe that the other off site option for broadcasters is space in the Westfield mall over-looking the site . I believe that's where Sky will be

NBC will be at 'street' level again - I'd been told they be somewhere near River Lawns or Park Live East on this map - though I'm not sure how great a view there is of the stadium from there. (The Riverbank Arena isn't much to look at, though it does block the view of the IBC, which is quite ugly. It's the unmarked big blob at the bottom-left of the map.)
I'll keep an eye out for them when I'm next in the park.

Here's the shot of the OBS studio tower, which I posted a few weeks back in the Sport thread:

I passed it on the towpath today and they've added a little bit more on the side, but it looks largely complete.

That's right, they've got the top four floors - I think the boarded up windows are a clue as to where the studios will go.

That's right. The EBU have some space in another residential block in Stratford for non-rightsholders too.

I think it's issue is it's so close they don't really get a great view.
