Not at midnight they don't

Syria is blowing up, Kids are being stabbed in Nottingham and Snoop Dogg is banned from Norway. But you wouldn't know it from BBC News.

The BBC have 25 channels showing the Olympics. All I want is a decent news programme telling me what is going on in the world. Why can't I get that from the BBC.

They're reporting the biggest stories of the day - and for the next fortnight it's London, and generally speaking good news rather than bad.

Don't worry though - Syria will still be getting blown up, kids will still be getting stabbed and Snoop Dogg will probably still be barred from Norway in a couple of weeks time.

BBC3 a bit of a mess over the last 90 minutes really - the first half of the Water Polo, then the first half of the hockey, and now the football (undoubtedly shown in full!) Would have been better really to show the full Water Polo game and then the football rather than squeeze in half the hockey.

Real news is cancelled for the duration of the Olympics. Every bulletin will be headlined by who won or who didn't win a medal. The BBC News website has been taken over by the Olympics when there is already a fully dedicated website for olympics coverage.

Sky News is really extraordinary, trying to cover the games in it's entirety without any of the footage. Why would I want to 'stay with them' for updates on Rebecca Adlington when I can see the race in it's entirety on BBC One ?

I'm not saying don't show the sport. But there are 25 channels of it. Whey do we have to lose the news service for two weeks. So much for public service broadcasting

God knows what the government is sneaking out, completely un checked.

Well all disabled people are thieving scum and some are daring to claim disability allowance as they're getting better.

But they say that every week, so it's not exactly burying news we don't know.

That seems a bit harsh Brekkie.

People abroad, ex pats, business travellers, and holiday makers ?

The only time I watch Sky News, is when I'm abroad, because it's the only TV News service available that has 'full' UK news.

I doubt there is anyone abroad who can't watch the whole thing on one of their domestic channels.

Except the states of course Wink

Iain Duncan Smith's words, not mine. (well, I may have read between the lines but his actions are effectively those words.)

Back to the real news though and that 4x100m were the Olympics at their very best. Still a sluggish start though for Team GB - expectations and indeed performances have been raised so much in the last decade or so that it's difficult to get excited about Bronze and Silver medals now.

Ah, well, yes, but unless you're in a country that has one of more of its athletes in a particular event, the local broadcaster is unlikely to be covering it ?
