Reminds me of when the interactive channels first appeared on DTT in the months between ITV Digital collapsing and Freeview launching. The tests for the World Cup 2002 - aswell as the famous Windmills film - showed England's World Cup 1998 match against Tunisia, including rather a lot of unbroadcast John Motson commentary before the game. Nothing to controversial although was amusing to hear him discussing with someone off-mic where the best place in Paris to get a curry was...
Startling amount of empty seats at all the venues. Where is everyone? Is Mr Bean playing 'Chariots Of Fire' really going to be the pinnacle moment of London 2012?
Really enjoyed the Canada v GB beach volleyball coverage, and glad they showed the majority of that on BBC1 live.
A bit disappointing that Murray & Murray's tennis doubles has only just come onto 301, they were showing the Archery final on both 301 and BBC One at the same time until now and afterwards, Sue Barker didn't even mention it (but did say the Keothavong v Wozniacki match was on the red button).
Some odd calls I think for BBC One so far. I'd have thought this Murrays doubles match would have been on there, rather than that VT previewing the sailing.
So frustrating when you flick through the Freeview channels and they're showing the same thing. Also don't see why they need a swimming pundit both in the Aquatics Centre and in the studio - it got very repetitive this morning.
P.S. Considering Lineker fronting these games kind of seemed inevitable you'd have thought they'd have used him back in 2008 (regardless of the start of the season) - they were desperately short on male hosts back then and it would have just re-enforced him as the lead BBC Sport presenter, rather than the Match of the Day presenter coming in for the big gig. Away from Hansen and co. though he's much better - liked his partnership with Sue for the build up last night.
Whoops! The BBC studio talkback is going out on BBC1. We know Mark Cavendish came 11th now, plus a dig a Bradley Wiggins... Oh dear oh dear!
I heard that and don't think it was talkback as such, it sounded one of the commentators mics being faded back up, the audio quality was too good for a talkback mic.
Of course that's why you always assume that a mic is live
Every time I flick to BBC3 (well, BBC HD) it seems to be 60 seconds or trailers - and now it's some filmed feature rather than back to the action. We seem to have more breaks in action than a rainy day at Wimbledon!
P.S. And can somebody move the officials out of the way of the cameras on the swimming.
