Which if you'd followed the instruction, you'd have been treated to the BBC's "Coming Up" screen for several minutes, so looks like it went out on the wrong channel, at the wrong time.

Why they cant intersperse some clips of the days action during the channels downtime I don't know, the captions get boring! Or use one of the channels as a nightlights one?

Cost is almost certainly the answer. Playing clips of the days action would require teams of people clipping up, scheduling and playing out. Multiply that by 24 streams - and you're talking a LOT of people.

A single highlights stream (as has been the case at previous games ISTR) would be good - but there isn't a bottomless pit of money...

Really like the production of Olympics Tonight, presentation wise it’s really slick,, great interviews light hearted yet really interesting. Also the close down of the show ending with the summary of the day going into the view & chimes of big ben is a touch of class in my opinion- really slick entrance into the news. Really impressed.

Yep - love the production being used. The menu edits with the shots of London interspersed are incredibly classy.

The show feels distinctive and different to the rest of the BBC Sport output. Gabby is great with the panel - and love the Big Ben ending.

Quite a feat to produce a show that is distinctive with no real rehearsal.

Anyhow, poor move by the BBC - not helped by the delay but we've cut from the jubilant scenes at the Velodrome to trailers, extended titles and a long build up on BBC1. I suspect they'll show the race in full again shortly but not a great move by the BBC - red button or not.

I think they were stymied a bit by the cycling finals being scheduled for 1759 and 1815 - they probably ought to have been on BBC Three in the first place to stop channel-hopping (and so they could be in HD for those without DSAT), though the delays to proceedings didn't help.

I'm not sure if the victory ceremony was even shown live - a few minutes after I left the velodrome*, I was walking past the big screen in the park which was blaring out the national anthem. I suppose the big screen people could have delayed it, but they do tend to mostly show BBC One coverage, interspersed with their own presenters and adverts for sponsors.

* not to gloat, but I was there, and it was AMAZING

Shocked I hope it's not something personal for her.

I will miss the fab team of Clare, Ian and Mark when the swimming is done. Can they cover something else, together, next week BBC? Sad

Like the football you mean? As they're all known for their expertise in that field.

Although I'm sure Clare would be fine.

Has anything continued on the Sport Multiscreen highlights wise? It might have been wise for them to repeat some sessions (in full) in the evening - notably things like cycling and rowing - but I guess the focus has been online for people wanting to catch up on sessions.

I think the BBC have done a fantastic job up to now. I like all the presenters, always better when someone is presenting who has been there, done it and got the medal...

You sometimes get repeats rather than live stuff of key sessions on the Freeview Red Button in my experience so far. But obviously, not a dedicated highlights thing.
