Which if you'd followed the instruction, you'd have been treated to the BBC's "Coming Up" screen for several minutes, so looks like it went out on the wrong channel, at the wrong time.

Hockey was due on Olympics 7 immediately following the cycling but with the cycling was delayed by about 45 minutes. Why they didn't put it on a channel which allowed for overflow I don't know.

Anyhow, poor move by the BBC - not helped by the delay but we've cut from the jubilant scenes at the Velodrome to trailers, extended titles and a long build up on BBC1. I suspect they'll show the race in full again shortly but not a great move by the BBC - red button or not.

Also bet the BBC can't wait for Hoy and Pendleton to retire as they've never really found a cycling pundit (other than Boardman) who is even half decent. Cavendish seems to answer every question with "I don't know, ask Staff".

Why they cant intersperse some clips of the days action during the channels downtime I don't know, the captions get boring! Or use one of the channels as a nightlights one?

Really like the production of Olympics Tonight, presentation wise it’s really slick,, great interviews light hearted yet really interesting. Also the close down of the show ending with the summary of the day going into the view & chimes of big ben is a touch of class in my opinion- really slick entrance into the news. Really impressed.

You realise you're not really expected to watch the channels outside of the events? Although I appreciate as someone who believes it is normal to watch News 24 all day this is hard to understand

I don't think that comment wasn't really warranted, do you? I was merely stating a valid point of discussion regarding the Olympic streams. No, I don't stay glued to 24 hour news channels non stop either.

It was a valid point. You were talking rubbish!

For those that say the 24 streams on Virgin/Sky are too much choice (Brekkie) they are talking complete rubbish. For a period of around 3 hours today the coverage on BBC 1/2 and 3 was insufficient and as a viewer you really needed the extra channels to construct your own viewing and to say abreast of all developments relevant to TeamGB. I'd say such comments are more to do with jealousy than anything!

Your comment seemed to suggest the BBC were expecting people to watch even in the downtime.

I think what you are suggesting is, it seems a bit of a waste for the BBC not to use the channels for something overnight.

I don't think he's really gone out and said that to be fair to him.

I agree it is an enjoyable watch. I did notice tonight that David Florence and Richard Hounslow didn't have anything lighting there faces so on the wide shot they were in darkness; there was plenty of space next to Gabby where they could have sat.

I think they would have been OK if they were sat on stools as well.

Why do you need to state the obvious by saying it was warranted?
