The phrase you're looking for is "the current monarch (Elizabeth II)"

Yeah, that's her!

I wonder if the ceremony will feature the Elgin Marbles as a centrepiece and a musical number celebrating the winter fuel allowance much like the one celebrating the NHS during the Opening Ceremony.

That was a slightly emotional CA just then!

Details...?

The BBC One CA sounded like she was rather emotional and choked up introducing the closing ceremony pre-show. Quite sweet. Slightly worried she'd start crying, mind.

You can understand why, it must have been the easiest couple of weeks of her working life.

The junctions are very often scripted. It would be interesting to hear what went out in the nations. I wonder if they gave such an emotional reading.

They're always scripted, although that has nothing to do with someone sounding emotional when reading it

Here in Northern Ireland the CA gave us a grand old introduction. Can't remember the exact wording, but he reminisced about what a great Games it had been, and thanked viewers for watching the coverage, and then finished with, IIRC, 'So now its time for the Closing Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games, here on BBC One . . . the Olympic Broadcaster.'

After the complaints from the opening ceremony, he'll probably not be as prominent during the commentary.

I was hoping he'd picked up that pixel instead of a microphone by mistake and no one would tell him.

Matt Baker made a bit of a slip-up earlier. At the end of his slot, when asked by Jake Humphrey what he was doing for the Closing Ceremony, he said he would be watching it at home listening to Barry Davies!
