With just over half an hour to go until the BBC's coverage of the closing ceremony begins, I thought it would make sense to start a thread for it, similar to the separate thread for the opening ceremony.

I notice that TVF seems to be joining in the spirit with a special image on the homepage carousel at the moment.

Any guesses on what surprises might be in store in terms of special guests tonight?

Wasn't that just an absolutely beautiful montage - anyone know who performed that version of Imagine?

Spice Girls, Jeannette Charles, Take That, Geoff Capes, Frank Bruno etc. All the usual people that turn up for these things.

Sounded like it might have been Leona Lewis though it might have been someone better.

It is, Emeli Sandé with her take on Imagine.

I believe the Closing Ceremony will be seen as a disapointment by many people. It probably won't be as spectacular as the opening, I don't think it is suppose to be. It looks like it will just be a music concert. Not a bad thing but not exactly the present queen jumping from a helicopter.

If it is "just a music concert", it'll still be good to compare it to the Queen's Jubilee Concert. For me, that was a proper disappointment, and I still don't understand the "knighthood for Gary Barlow" calls...

Now lets just hope the Olympic security teams are on the watch for a gatecrashing Paul McCartney...

I wonder how much organising of that Barlow actually did? It's only because he's flavour of the month at the moment he got the job.

Its not supposed to be as spectacular as the opening. It was always billed as a celebration of British music. It's just a big party with a few speeches, and the flame being extinguished and flag being lowered.. Just like the Closing Ceremony of any other Games.

The phrase you're looking for is "the current monarch (Elizabeth II)"
