I see that they have those arm belts on with security ID that bouncers usually have on. If they are Met Police officers surely they would not need them, or is this due to them not being in uniform?

They're on duty, hence requiring their warrant cards. The arm bands hold these.

Ah, I assumed they were normal security (not police) because i've only ever seen security wear them, not police.

I think Police Officers always carry their warrant cards, but normal uniforms have somewhere specific to keep them. The uniforms they are wearing for the Torch Relay are presumably not designed for this...

That would be a pretty a pretty big omission for a uniform that has been especially designed for one event.

I saw adverts on the website feed earlier (one for a hotel chain and one for BT). I hope this was a mistake and I was seeing an international feed rather than the one meant for the UK.

Can anyone else see the torch relay coverage being a massive flop? I'm always into the Olympics but I'm not interested in watching it on TV whatsoever aside from the launch of it tonight. The fact that so many hours of it will be available to stream live just baffles me and I'm not sure there's any real need to extend some of the regional news programmes for it. I mean it's just people carrying a flame.

In excess of 100,000 people saw the torch pass through Cornwall today according to first estimates.

The SIM cards won't be in the camera(s). It sounds like be a number of 3G routers bonded together

Dejero is another product that uses 'bonded 3G'

The BBC2012 Twitter feed has a nice high quality Olympic Broadcaster logo:

Just saw a BBC camerman wearing a hi-vis jacket with the old 1988 BBC logo on:

*

Click on the image to see the full sized version, it's a bit pixellated but the best I could do with the stream. I know it's the old logo as it was more clear a few moments beforehand and the picture was more zoomed in on it.

It's going within 10 miles of 95% of the population, though I'd be interested to hear how far away the other 5% are
