Can anyone tell me who was the commentator (female) on the opening and closing ceremonies at Bejing 2008?

Hazel Irvine and Carrie Gracie were the two female commentators, along with Huw Edwards.

Which one slagged off China at the opening ceremony and then added insult to injury by patronising them at the closing. Is it me - or did anyone else think that the "London" contribution, during the closing ceremony (and the subsequent 'speech' by Boris Johnson) was embarrasing?

I fully understand the comment. I have included 2 questions in 1 post when the second should be in an entirely different thread.

I would, therefore, ask for the definitive answer to my first query. I recognised the voice of the woman who was with Huw Edwards this afternoon - I just want to know her name before I start the rant.

On the other issue: I'll start another thread - although I'm not absolutely sure that it fits with this forum - maybe someone can advise (this is my first time - so please, be gentle with me Smile )

No, I just meant that now you're talking more about the Games of the 29th Oympiad in general, perhaps here would be the best place.
