Also worth pointing out that there's a big difference between sample quality and quality of the arrangement (i.e. how the lines have been reproduced, etc) I'd like to think that I could do a reasonable quality of transcription of a TV theme, given time and effort, but I don't have the sequencer skills or the sample libraries to make it sound any good when exported as an audio file (I do all my work in Sibelius, which is very much within the notation field, with any audio export an added bonus, really). So whether the guy's string libraries (for example) are any good or not isn't really a matter of arrangement skill - that's what you're nitpicking on when you say it sounds 'cheesy'. What's really impressive are the recreations of each individual musical line within the arrangement. If you spent megabucks on a really good string library, you could easily map that into the VST engine in Cubase and instantly make any Cubase project sound much 'better' instantly (and then, much more work when it comes to tweaking MIDI values etc would give it an even better quality of 'performance').
