Does anyone remember the 'Advert Channel' located above the shopping channels on the EPG, which was basically a load of people sat around talking about Adverts..

"The Andrex Puppy... what an amazing idea... I wonder how these people come up with these ideas?" was a basic discussion on the channel, when I used to put it on to annoy my mum and to see what on earth they would be on about.

There was also that channel that had a load of comics that would do a show, I think it had something to do with Jethro and his club, but now that has gone .. to where , I don't know.... would I watch it... maybe if I was very bored.

Anyway, does anyone else have any of their own crappy channels that are gone, but deserve to be mentioned?

Friendly TV was always worth a watch, ok it still lives on in name in the Adult section, but back in the day Friendly had an alltogether different meaning. Very Happy

The Advert Channel was a great idea done horribly wrong. It should have just been 24 hours of adverts from the last 50 years...heck, maybe even with '80s hour' themes and stuff, but they had so few adverts that most of the channel's content consisted of people talking about them. Add to that the website consisted of loads of websnatched ads from TV Ark, it was pretty much doomed from the start.

Always amazes me that channels like this actually get to air.

I have hairbrained ideas for a new TV channel quite often, but thankfully I don't have the time or the money to blow making my silly pipe-dream a reality.

And wasn't the presenter a former Blue Peter presenter aswell?

Can't help paying those kind of wages to begin with.

No former Blue Peter co-hosts on the Advert Channel IIRC, but former BIG Breakfast co-host, Richard Orford.

The problem is that there's no money in running an independent channel unless you have some form of extra revenue stream - either via selling things or phone calls/texts.

That's why channels like Advert, Friendly, L!ve all turned into phone-based channels, ditching all their proper programming

or have about 5 hours worth of programming, with 19 hours of Teleshopping

The amount of channels which show Teleshopping at some point between 7am and 12midnight in the Entertainment section is quite poor

Didn't they actually play TV-Arks adverts on the channel as well? They were definitely internet clips from somewhere because the compression on them was no better than TV-Arks clips!
