Why is Chris Rogers on the NC at this hour? I'm sure he was on this evening.

Did the nightshift reader not turn up?
.

With Chris doing the 12-1am hour it also meant that overnight viewers got to see three different presenters per hour

...also depends on the partnership - the ITV Evening News team works well, but the BBC 6pm News doesn't benefit at all from having two anchors.

At least explain why you say this, instead of spouting your usual "ITV News is best" propaganda.

In my opinion the 6 on BBC1 works better, because they make a lot more use of the two rear projection screens in the studio, while one presenter is reporting from one of the screens on one item, the other can be preparing for the next story, and allows a fluid switch between one presenter standing up about one story, and the other at the desk with the other.

Apart from the times that they use the screen, the Evening News has nothing that requires or benefits a dual presentation, whereas it works for production values etc. on the 6.

Obviously it's a matter of personal opinion, but from what I've seen the BBC partnerships rarely appear on screen together and barely interact with each other. Most of the movement from screens to desks could be done with one host.

The Evening News uses it's partnership slightly more effectively and it actually appears that the co-hosts get on. Ironically though, I would say my main justification for co-hosts on the Evening News is it works well when one of them is on location.

I wouldn't particularly say that it's the fact that the Evening News has two presenters that makes it good... it's the fact that it has a much more appealing agenda and more accessible presentational style. This is of course aided by the excellent choice of presenters (Mark has really gone up in my estimations recently) - as far as I'm concerned, the combination of George and Sophie on BBC News is a big turn-off for me.

I'd agree with that Phil. The 2 presenter format is not only about the production of the programme, and the transition from one story to the next. For me, it's choosing the right partnership and engaging the viewer. George & Mildred (sorry Sophie) are not a natural pairing, George is more suited to straightforward single headed bulletins, having a co-pilot makes him look and feel uncomfortable.

Wheras the partnerships between Mark Austin / Katie Derham / Nick Owen / Mary Nightingale work much better in my opinion. Personable, and comfortable with each other. Sophie & George are not good together.

What about it? Is it as good as Mary's front?

Very funny. Confused

I mean, has anyone noticed that Mary is back presenting...

What are people's opinions on Lloyd Bracey, is he going to be one of those ones to get cult status on this forum like Owen, Chris and Andrew, or a take it or leave it presenter like Lauren or Sasha?

I wish itv.com would update the News Channel schedule.

I do like to know who's on so I can tune in to my favourite presenters whilst hubby and I wear our two-for-the-price-of-one Abforce belts.
