Just before 4 O' Clock on the ITV News Channel, Chris Rogers said goodbye and instead of the 'Breaking News For Britain' and the music, the main ITV1 end music came on (The one used on the Evening News).

Yes every so often they seem to do that complete with an ITN production caption!

Im not sure if its part of the contract to have some end credits and a production caption or just whether ITN want some credit for producing the channel?

But it does happen quite often - and when it does (as you say) it appears as if it is an error as we are so used to seeing the breaking news sting now

The ITV News Channel were the first to break the news of Alastair Campbell's resignation. They have been excellent at breaking stories recently, within three minutes of the announcement they had a report on it from Dan Rivers, Political Editor Nick Robinson on the phone and other people on the phone. Then they went over to Angus Walker in Westminster.
They certainly are 'Breaking News For Britain'.

Right, they didn't break the story, PA did.

That report will have been sitting there waiting to be played for weeks if not months.

From what I saw, ITV were the last to have a political correspondent in Westminster, Sky being the first. Nick Robinson was also on after Adam Boulton, from what I could see. They also weren't the first to get out Two Jags, that was the BBC (bit of luck involved, there) and were second to Sky in getting an interview with Campbell.

Again, from what I saw, (the first 30 mins or so) Sky were the only ones with people in Downing Street at the time (two correspondents), so yet again your assertion that ITV News is in some way leading the pack turns into a load of s-hit.

John Prescott appeared to be interviewed by Mark Austin on the Calendar set, he had the blue background behind him. A clip of this interview was also shown on Sky News. Nick Owen is anchoring now live from Downing Street on the ITVNC.

BREAKING NEWS !!!!

Trevor McDonald is making an appearance on the ITVNC (other than an ITV1 simulcast). He is having a chat about Alastiar Campbell in Downing Street with Nick Owen.

It appears there are three anchors on the news channel at the moment:

- Bill Neely in the studio and Nick Owen and Trevor McDonald at Downing Street.

The ITV NC is really coming along...

It was just the same background used for the interview on Sky News for some reason, the interview was seperate, done by Kay Burley. News 24 had first pop at Prescott and had a background of a city shot.

LoL at the ITV Evening News just now - they had Katie Derham and the other man interviewing John Prescot and the guy kept refering to Campell as the "Spin Doctor" which began to annoy John Prescot. John then started defending Campell and saying it wasn't spin. At the end of the report they cut to Katie, who had was looking down and had one eyebrow raised as if to say "Yeah... whatever John."

Also, they were live at Downing Street with a guy, when suddenly the ITV News Studio balcony, and the blue backdrops faded up briefly over the top of him and disappeared! *confused* I know the balcony is fake, but I thought the blue backdrop was real perspex and not superimposed?

Yes John Prescott wasnt having any of it was he! LOL

The more he was talking the more his eyes 'seemed' to go cock-eyed!

Also just to note ITV NC have just broken the news (first) about a small explosion near some British troops near Basra. Sky were a few minutes later - whereas BBC are once again showing some pre-recorded stuff about Alistair Campbell!

Is this like deja vu or what?

They certainly are living up to their slogan of 'Breaking News For Britain'.
Just before the adverts Chris Rogers said, "Your with the ITV News Channel, breaking news for britain, and we will certainly be doing that after this short break".

Surprised Mark Austin wasn't live from Downing Street considering the ITV NC had presenters there.
