Weekend listings are up for the News Channel, Wilsie from London Today will be presenting on Saturday and it seems John Suchet has given up the Sunday evening news for more news at Ten and we all know why that is. Also I notice now that John does 8-9 regularly on the ITVNC the 5-545 slot is often short of a presenter, and if Nick is too tired to do the 1-2 slot then another hour in the daytime is often ''tbc''
As I was away on holiday over the past two weeks, can anyone tell me if Kevin Dunn, Julian Manyon and John Irvine got off their backsides to do any reporting over the last two weeks or did they leave all the work to people like Harry Smith?
Yes I also saw Chris Rogers mention that the new ITV News Network starts tonight from 8pm with regional news stories for the first 30 minutes followed by ITV News Sports Network at 8:30pm.
Another innovative idea from ITV News here - Sky just cant compete on this regional level and BBC News 24 just dont seem THAT bothered about covering anything local - they prefer to opt for worldwide stories from their bureaus around the world (which is fine)
Also at midnight on Saturdays and Sunday afternoons (i forgot the time its on) ITV News Channel are having a sports programme rounding up all the results and action from british sport.
I assume this is to make up for the Goal Rush disappearing to be replaced by some awful z rated american drama/sitcom/planets funniest animals?
The ITN website has updated the ITV News reporters page, it has some new pictures of the reporters and it has updated the job titles, for example it no longer lists Felicity Barr as sports correspondant, instead it describes her as News channel breakfast anchor. Tim Ewarts information now lists him as sports editor. It also says he took up the post in September 2003
I'm so happy ITV are finaly pulling themselves together News Channel wise although i think perhaps the programme tonight is a little repetative of The Premiership (perhaps getting ready for the lose of the rights next season to highlights). Now all they need to do is get a complete new look add programmes such as business and become interactive. When all this finally happens i am sure ITV can regain its position as No1 news provider. BTW i am thinking of starting a campaign to get Felicity Barr and Owen Thomas their own breakfast show on the news channel.
P.S does anyone else think the ITV News/News Channel logo should become flat (something similar to Sky News except better quality) this way the changing of the ITV2 logo would make sense i.e. ITV1 ITV2 and ITV News have variations of the same logo.
Yes, I agree with all that. Breakfast on the news channel would be fantastic with Felicity and Owen presenting - we need some good banter at that time in the morning! I suspect ITV are in a bit of a difficult situation, though, as I'd imagine GMTV would get very annoyed if ITV started providing remotely credible competition on the news channel.
I think it's definitely time to change the logo too - that 3d thing with the 'news' in lower case just doesn't look very newsy to me.
5 past ten and Romilly Weeks has just reported on Idi Amin. But the Premiership was a little behind schedule.
Edit - 6 past and it's started - looks ok with Alex Thomas presenting I think. Could be Nick Bashford... their voices are similar.

I was waching the itv weekend news and sport at 5:10 pm to 5:25 pm with Andrea Catherwood and Feleicty barr. the ending was the old tune half way through it then cut to the old itv news channel ad music very odd did anyone else see this.

Yes I saw that, they played the ITV News closing theme too late so it was nowhere near the end, they then tried to rescue it by playing the ITV News short sting, which was faded out half way through
